When people find lost, domestic pigeons they typically post online.
In the posts, many people will say that the bird is a feral and to put back outside. We often have to spend a great deal of time trying to convince them that it is in fact a domestic.
Well, this little one was clearly shown to be a domestic.
When I saw the post online, I was sure they were a Show Tippler.
Show Tipplers are a fancy version of the sporty high flyer pigeon the Tipplers. Tipplers themselves do amazing high flights and very long ones. Which I will get into in another post.
But for the Show Tipplers, they are bred to be big and showy and have tiny beaks. Another special thing about them is their white silver eyes.
Well, this little one was found emaciated and very sick. The finders tried to reach out to the previous owner, but this was not a success.
When she finally came to me it was clear she had an infection that needed treatment and some feather lice as well getting her weight up. She also had some feathers that were cut off.
For several weeks we fought a upper respiratory infection and got her weight up. Her personality really shown through and it was time to have her go to a lovely home locally! Here she is in her new home thriving!
